Residensity - Ashrafieh, Lebanon – 2017

The last rays of light shining on a neighborhood that was once home to the city’s elite. Among its bustling streets, still lie remnants of Beirut’s historic 19th century mansions that serve as a reminder of a past era of glamour. I was looking to emphasize on the residensity aspect of this densely populated neighborhood, where tall skyscrapers are dispersed within a plethora of low rise buildings occupying the same streets as protected traditional houses dating two centuries back.

Sunset Drive - Beqaa Valley, Lebanon – 2018

An afternoon drive basked in golden light, crossing through the fertile valley of the Beqaa. As a photographer, you tend to develop a bucket list of photographs you absolutely need to take, and that was one of them. I had been actively looking for a long narrow road adorned by tall trees on either side and I was so happy to discover my home country had one.

I wanted to make it extra special so I made sure to be there in the afternoon and get the long and low-lying shadows of these trees. I waited for a car to drive through. Et voila.

The Road To The Top - Jabal Jais, Ras Al Khaimah – UAE, 2017

While on a much-needed get away from my hectic Dubai life, I took this photograph from the top of the highest peak in the UAE that sits at 1,934 meters. What you see is the end of a very long and winding road taking you to the summit.

This mountain is also the home of the world’s longest zip line.

The Dancing Muse - Palace of the Shirvanshahs - Baku, Azerbaijan – 2018

While visiting the last residence of the rulers of the Shirvan state of medieval Azerbaijan, I had asked our tour guide to try and immerse herself in the customs of old. She decided to give homage to the infamous whirling dervishes who graced this palace with their mesmerizing dances.

Empire State Of Mind - Manhattan - New York, USA - 2015

On my first ever trip to New York, even after spending more than 10 hours each day strolling its streets, and capturing its essence, I felt that my trip won’t be complete unless I photograph it from the air as well.

This photo was taken on a helicopter with no doors tour of the city, that offers photographers a one of a kind unobstructed view of the city. This was easily one of my most memorable photography experiences.

The Road To Nowhere - Dubai, UAE - 2017

Upon learning of the existence of a complex of roads taken over by the surrounding desert dunes, I knew I had to take my drone out and snap a few photos taken from above. I’ve always believed a top down shot gives you a much broader view that cannot help but put things into perspective. In this example, having taken the shot from around 200 meters from the ground, clearly shows the intense movement of the sand.

The Mosque - Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque - Abu Dhabi, UAE - 2016

As a lover of architecture photography, shooting the Grand’s Mosque numerous incredible angles, made me feel like a kid at a candy store. Its intricately designed angles and imposing decorative features make it a photographer’s paradise. I decided on a dark and edgy color scheme to further emphasize the grandeur of its main pillars.

Into The Gorge - Les Gorges du Verdon - Provence, France - 2018

While visiting relatives in the South of France in summer 2018, I convinced my family to join me on a day trip to the gorges. I had promised them a really fun kayaking ride on the 25km Verdon river, that cuts through a huge limestone mass and made it one of Europe’s most beautiful canyon rivers. It was named for its startling turquoise-green color; its most distinguishing characteristic.

They were as impressed as me!

In my early roof topping days, I used to relentlessly look for the best vantage point in Dubai. I believe that to really do justice to the city’s impressive skyscrapers, you need to capture them from an elevated position.

The Light Within - King Hassan II Mosque - Casablanca, Morocco - 2017

On a photography trip with friends of mine to Morocco in 2017, our first destination was the impressive King Hassan II Mosque in the country’s capital. I had seen pictures of its main entrance and its incredibly intricate details and absolutely wanted to get one for myself.

Including a human element in such a frame serves to give the viewer a sense of scale.

As I was taking a golden hour stroll in the streets of Jaipur, I stumbled upon a man sitting by the side of the street rolling his cigarette. The Wall - Saydet El Qaren - El Akoura, Lebanon - 2018

Being surrounded by beautiful raw nature, is something I really miss while living in Dubai. On a winter photo escapade in Lebanon, and on my way to photograph the frozen ponds of Akoura, I took my drone out for a spin and was surprised to discover this natural rock formation that looks exactly like the wall from Game of Thrones.

Not far from the cross, lies a little chapel called Saydet El Qaren.

Letters From Isolation - Valensole, France - 2018

While visiting relatives in the South of France in summer 2018, I convinced my family to join me on a day trip to the famous lavender fields of the South of France. The impeccably manicured fields of Valensole, along with the beautiful scent of the lavender, made it such a memorable trip.

What caught my eyes the most was this little isolated cabin in the midst of the kilometers long lavender plants.

Nature Reclaimed - Al Madam Abandoned Village - Sharjah, UAE – 2017

I can’t help but be in awe of nature’s relentless power to take back what’s hers. Little or no records can be found to shed a light on why this compound of villas deeply entrenched in the desert, has been suddenly abandoned by its inhabitants. Nature has since taken over and filled the houses with mountains of sand.

Watchers In The Sky - Dubai, UAE - 2016

Another bucket list shot of mine. The Dubai fog is such a surreal scene to witness, where you literally find yourself above the clouds. It gives you a sense of serenity like no other. I was happy to also stumble upon a couple of window cleaners which I think added a beautiful human element to an already special scene.

In my 6 years living in Dubai, if there is one thing I would never get tired of looking at is Burj Khalifa. It’s such an impressive structure and an incredible feat of engineering.

If you think about it, it’s probably the most photographed building in the world!

The Empty Quarter (Two Edits) - Abu Dhabi, UAE - 2018

The empty quarter. The world’s largest sand dune desert spanning over 650,000 km2, is home to the most beautiful and pristine sand dunes you will ever come across. Mind you, it took me around half an hour of climbing to reach the top and the spot from where this photo was taken.

On an exploration trip to Jordan, my friends and I visited the Amman Citadel, home to The Temple of Hercules, perched on one of the seven hills overlooking the capital. A Moment Of Reflection - Wahat Al Karama - Abu Dhabi, UAE - 2019

In my search for the best vantage points to capture the beauty of the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque, I made my way to Wahat Al Karama. It’s a war memorial built in honor of the fallen soldiers of the UAE killed in the line of duty. This place also offers a one of kind view of the mosque’s reflection through a water pond.

Hidden Refuge - Chouwen Valley - Chouwen, Lebanon - 2018

If you’re up for a hike in the midst of the Lebanese nature, you’ll be rewarded with a little hidden river with bright turquoise waters, nestled at the bottom of a valley. It gets its water from a larger river called Nahr Ibrahim (Abraham’s river), with deep mythological importance. It is said that the Greek God Adonis was killed there by a boar under the orders of Ares, and that the red waters that flow in it every spring, symbolize the blood that he shed.

I had asked my friend Yasmeen, to hold the ancient doors of the castle open, to give us a sense of the massive scale of the castles of old.

The Cage Makers (buy separately or as a series) - Dubai, UAE - 2018

Manual work has always been a favorite subject of mine to document through my photography. I spent countless mornings documenting the work of fish cage makers in Dubai. These men weave up to 20 cages each per day using only pieces of fabric to protect their fingers from the razor-sharp wires. The fish find it easy to swim through the narrow openings but cannot find their way out.

Tall wild grass. Coconut palm trees. Lush green hills. Countless boys playing football on an afternoon. This is a typical representation of the beauty the former Portuguese colony of Goa offers. The End Of The World - Algarve Coast, Portugal - 2018

Taken at the south-westernmost point of Europe, in a tiny town called Sagres, where the coast meets the Atlantic Ocean. This was the last explored point of western Europe at the time of the romans, and widely believed to be the end of the world. It’s been called that ever since.

While on of my road trips in the Lebanese countryside, I discovered a cute little village perched on a small hill overlooking one of the largest lakes in the fertile Beqaavalley. It also offers views of Mount Hermon which is a mountain cluster connecting Lebanon, Syria and Palestine.

Sub Zero - The Akoura Ponds - El Akoura, Lebanon - 2018

Being surrounded by beautiful raw nature, is something I really miss while living in Dubai. On a winter photo escapade in Lebanon, I set out to photograph the frozen ponds of Akoura. I decided that a photo taken from the ground would not do them justice. So, I took my drone out for a spin and captured all thirteen of them in one frame.

It was 2 degrees Celsius and all I was thinking about, was how pissed I would be if the cold winds drained my drone batteries causing it to crash!
